Aaron "Fiery Ron" Siegel is an Atlanta native and a University of Georgia graduate who later trained at the Culinary Institute of America. In November 2006 he opened Fiery Ron's Home Team BBQ at 1205 Ashley River Road in West Ashley with partners Taylor Garrigan, Tony McKie and Madison Ruckel. The company has since grown to seven restaurants, including locations on Sullivan's Island, in downtown Charleston and in Aspen, Colorado, and employs more than 600 people.
Technique
Home Team cooks on two kinds of smokers, an offset reverse-flow and a rotisserie with convection, both fed with red or white oak and charcoal (per a 2023 interview with Siegel and partner Taylor Garrigan).
