Deborah Jones
Deborah Jones and her sister Mary took over Jones Bar-B-Q in Kansas City, Kansas, from their father, Leavy B. Jones Sr., who started the business in the 1970s. The sisters and their restaurant got a makeover on Netflix's Queer Eye in 2019. In July 2022 they announced they would sell the business after 43 years, citing their ages, health and short staffing, and said the family sauce and sausage recipes would stay a family secret. As of August 2025, the sisters were still running Jones Bar-B-Q, now in a former taco stand in Kansas City, Kansas.
Technique
The sisters' father taught them to cook, build a fire and make sausage, and they hand-stuff their pork sausage daily with a house spice blend. Of their burnt ends, Deborah Jones told Feast: "We just cook it slow."
